Sania Mirza recommended for Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna 2015

India’s No. 1 Women’s Tennis player Sania Mirza has been recommended for Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award 2015, confirms the Union Sports Ministry, which received the recommendation from the AITA. The Awards Committee will take a final decision on this matter.

Sania, who won her first Women’s Doubles Grand Slam title in July when she along with Martina Hingis won the Wimbledon Open. She also became the first Indian woman to achieve the feat. In 2014, she had won the U.S. Open Mixed Doubles title.
