South Africa beat India in 3rd ODI, take 2-1 lead in Series

Morne  MorkelRajkot, Oct 18: South Africa beat India by 18 runs in the third of their five-match One-Day International (ODI) series at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium here on Sunday.

Quinton de Kock (103) and Faf du Plessis (60) helped South Africa reach 270/7 in 50 overs. For India, Mohit Sharma took two wickets each.

In reply, India managed 252/6 despite Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli scoring fluent fifties. India looked solid at one stage, but South African bowlers and fielders did not allow them to play free shots after the 35th over.

For India, Rohit Shrma (65), Kohli (77) and Dhoni (47) were the top scorers. More Morkel claimed the wickets of Dhoni, Kohli and Rahane towards the end to pull off a victory for Proteas. He was declared ‘Man of the Match’ for his 4/39 bowling figure.

With this win, the visitors took a 2-1 lead in the five-match ODI series.
