Srabani beat Dutee at 19th Federation Cup Athletics

Srabani NandaBhubaneswar, May 3: Srabani Nanda proved her mettle at the 19th Federation Cup National Athletics Championship in Mangalore in Karnataka yesterday. She won the gold medal in the women’s 100m sprint by defeating her compatriot Dutee Chand of Odisha.

Srabani clocked 11.59 seconds, while Dutee had a disappointing show at 11.86 seconds. She had to be content with silver medal.

Although she won a silver medal, Dutte is happy to make a return to the track and field after the pain and trauma she had to go through following the ban last year for allegedly using hyperandrogenism. She was recently allowed by the Court for Arbitration in Sports (CAS) to participate in sporting events.

In the men’s 100m section, Amiya Mallick won the gold medal with 10.56 seconds. Jyoti Shankar Debnath of the Indian Army won the silver with the same timing. Amiya was declared winner in a photo finish.
