David-WarnerDavid Warner scored 145, as Australia gained the upperhand against India on Day 1 of the first Test match at Adelaide. The Kangaroos finished at 354/6 at stumps. They will now try to score something around 450-500 to put pressure on Indian batsmen tomorrow.

Apart from Warner, Michael Clarke (60), Steven Smith (72*) and Mitchell Marsh (41) were toe top scorers. Clarke was retired hurt after injuring his back. For India, Shami and Aaron took two wickets each. Bhuvneshwar Kumar did not play in Adelaide Test due to injury.

In the absence of Dhoni, Virat Kohli is leading the team. India’s lone spinner Karn Sharma was not impressive on Day 1. It would be interesting to see how he bowls in the second innings. Players from both teams paid rich tribute to Australian cricketer Phil Hughes, who died at 25 after being hit by a bouncer.
