Indonesia confirms AirAsia Flight Crash, 162 Killed

AirAsia-QZ8501-FlightA raw TV footage by a leading channel in Indonesia, showed some objects in the Java Sea, which are believed to be the debris of missing AirAsia Flight QZ8501. Later, the Indonesian government has confirmed that the plane had crashed and debris have been spotted. All 162 people on board are feared dead. The dead bodies are seen floating off the coast of Kalimantan.

Search operations were intensified further with the arrival of an US Warship. Many Asian countries, including Malaysia, Singapore, China, India, Japan and Sri Lanka have joined the search and rescue operations launched by Indonesia. About 30 ships and 21 aircraft from Indonesia, Australia, Malaysia, Singapore and South Korea have joined the operation.

The Airbus A320-200 operated by Indonesia AirAsia, had gone missing on Sunday with 162 people on board during a flight from the Indonesian city of Surabaya to Singapore. The rescue teams have already reached the crash site and retrieving the dead bodies. Chances of finding any survivors is very bleak.
