CMC seals 10 Kalyan Mandaps in Cuttack following HC’s Directive

The Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) has launched a massive crackdown on Tuesday, sealing at least 10 Kalyan Mandaps that were running in the city without permission. 9 out of those 10 mandaps come under Lalbag police limits, while one is located in Bidanasi area.

As the Orissa High Court has ordered action against 104 such mandap, the process will continue for the next two days or so. During the drive, CMC officials were accompanied by enforcement officers of Cuttack Development Authority (CDA), the enforcement squad of CMC and police forces.

The High Court ordered action against the mandaps on a petition filed by a group of 5 citizens of Cuttack in March 2015, who accused the mandaps of violating the rules, creating nuisance and pollution as well as public inconvenience.
