Water level rises in Mahanadi; Hirakud to release season’s 1st flood water tomorrow

ONI Bureau:  Water level in Mahanadi river has increased following incessant rain since last couple of days, informed Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Bishnupada Sethi on Monday.

As per report, water level in Hirakud Dam touched 615.31 ft by 8 am today.

In order to manage the rising water level, the first flood water will be released between 10 am to 11 am tomorrow.

The dam authorities have alerted the villagers in low lying areas of the Hirakud dam to not venture into Mahandi River during these hours. However 6 districts were put on alert, informed Hirakud Chief Engineer Jyotirmaya Rath.
