ONI Bureau: India celebrates National Sports Day on 29th August every year to mark the birth anniversary of legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Rathore, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and many leaders on Wednesday paid tributes to Dhyan Chand on the occasion.
On his 114th birth anniversary today, many sport lovers including Sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik from Odisha appealed the Government to award India’s highest civilian award ‘Bharat Ratna’ to the legendary player Dhyan Chand.
Worth mentioning Dhyan Chand won gold medals in Olympic for India in year 1928, 1934 & 1936. In his career of 22 years, he scored over 400 goals.
