ONI Bureau: The excitement turned into nightmare and resentment for thousands of Hockey lovers in Odisha, as the server crashed during online booking of tickets for the Opening Ceremony within a few seconds. Despite the promises made by Hockey India to restore the Server soon, it did not happen.
Earlier, as soon as the online sale of tickets for the opening ceremony of Hockey World Cup began at 12 PM today, users reported that it crashed and showed “This site can’t be reached”.
The ‘Queue’ or ‘Line System’ initiated by Ticket Genie, which was hired by the Hockey India, gave conflicting results.
While some users have reported a ‘Sold Out’ response, some found themselves waiting in long queue to access the site.
There is a huge demand for tickets at https://t.co/SGyEJwFWJp for the OHMWC Bhubaneswar 2018 opening ceremony at Bhubaneswar (27th Nov) & World Cup celebrations at Cuttack ( 28th Nov) after the tickets went online at 12 PM.#IndiaKaGame #HWC2018 #HWC2018OpeningCeremony pic.twitter.com/VxxFEP7HzP

As the Odisha Government was not involved in the sale of tickets online, the Sports Ministry passed the buck and expressed their helplessness.
Some users even complained with evidence that money was deducted from their bank accounts, but the tickets were not booked. They are now waiting for a refund, which could be a troubling affair.
