IWAI inks MoU with Odisha Government

national waterwayThe Inland Waterway Authority of India (IWAI) has signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Odisha government and 2 ports on Monday to develop commercially viable stretches of National Waterway (NW- 5).

The two ports Paradip Port Trust (PPT) and Dhamra Port Company Limited (DPCL) have been serving the Eastern and Central parts in India. In the National Waterway (NW-5), East Cost Canal has been integrated with Brahmini river and Mahanadi delta river.

The development of waterways has been come under the purview of central government. For the development of the National Waterway 5, the IWAI has signed a MoU with the state government.

The two port authorities PPT and DPCL have agreed to develop terminal facilities in their premises as the captive facilities and to operate. And the state government, PPT and DPCL have agreed to develop terminal facility at Pankapal or any other location recommend by the agency.
