Even as Narendra Modi’s biggest detractors – Arvind Kejriwal (Delhi) and Nitish Kumar (Bihar) attended the NITI Aayog meeting today, 13 Chief Ministers skipped it for various reasons. Nine Congress CMs boycotted the meeting, while Akhilesh Yadav (Uttar Pradesh) and Mamata Banerjee (West Bengal) skipped it for unknown reasons.
Tamil Nadu CM J Jalalithaa and Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik wanted to send their representatives O Pannerselvam and Pradip Amat respectively, but it was not allowed, as the meeting was meant for CMs only.
The CMs who did not attend NITI Aayog Meeting:
Congress CMs: Nabam Tuki (Arunachal Pradesh), Tarun Gogoi (Assam), Virbhadra Singh (Himachal Pradesh), Oommen Chandy (Kerala), Okram Ibobi Singh (Manipur), Dr. Mukul Sangma (Meghalaya), Lal Thanhawla (Mizoram), Siddaramaiah (Karnataka), Harish Rawat (Uttarakhand).
Non-Congress CMs: Akhilesh Yadav (Uttar Pradesh), J Jayalalithaa (Tamil Nadu), Mamata Banerjee (West Bengal), Naveen Patnaik (Odisha).
