Suspended Gujarat IPS Officer Sanjiv Bhatt sacked from Service

Sanjiv BhattSuspended Gujarat IPS Officer Sanjiv Bhatt has been dismissed from service for gross ‘indiscipline’. Although his termination proceedings began last year, the immediate probation came in the form a video CD, which showed him with a girl in compromising position.

Sanjiv Bhatt denied the allegations, saying the person shown in the video resembles him. But, the Gujarat Government confirmed the authenticity of he tape after a forensic test. He was even issued a notice in this regard.

Sanjiv Bhatt, who claimed that then Gujarat CM Narendra Modi’s had asked the officials to allow the Hindus to “vent their anger” during the Gujarat riots in 2002, had been spewing venom against Modi and BJP. He joined hands with the Congress Party despite being in police service and even fielded his wife against Narendra Modi in Maninagar in 2012 assembly polls.

Sanjiv Bhatt was suspended in 2011 for “unauthorised absence” from service. He found time to launch anti-Modi campaign, campaign for his wife in elections, but did not get time to join duty. He had been constantly targeting Modi on social media. Only three days ago, he mocked the PM on Twitter – “@sanjivbhatt: Modiji….Pranam! How is the heat In Dubai? Hopefully, better than the Monsoon session of the parliament.”

Meanwhile, Sanjiv Bhatt claimed that he was sacked following a “sham inquiry” over his absence from duty. But, he has not decided to challenge the decision, saying he did not want to impose himself on the government.
