Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Padmavat’ to release on Jan 25

ONI Bureau: Putting all rumours and speculations into rest, the Central Bureau of Film Certification (CBFC) granted a U/A certification to Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Padmavat’ paving the way for its release on January 25. Padmavat (or Padmawat) is an epic poem written in 1540 by Sufi poet Malik Muhammad Jayasi. The film is inspired by that poem.

The certified runtime of the film is 2 hours and 43 minutes (163 minutes). Starcast of the movie includes Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor. The CBFC cleared the film with 5 major modifications, including change of its title from ‘Padmavati’ to ‘Padmavat’.

Meanwhile, the Karni Sena from Rajasthan has vowed to disrupt the film elsewhere and sought a complete ban on it.

In the wake of big release of ‘Padmavat’, the release of Neeraj Pandey’s action-thriller ‘Aiyaari’, featuring Manoj Bajpayee and Sidharth Malhotra, has been postponed from January 26 to February 9.

‘Padmavat’ will clash with R Balki’s Akshay Kumar-starrer ‘Pad Man’ which will also release on January 26 unless there is a last minute change.
