Indian Red Cross Society celebrates International Volunteers Day-2015

International Volunteers Day-2015Bhubaneswar, Dec 7: International Volunteers Day has been celebrated by Indian Red Cross Society, Odisha State Branch (IRCS-OSB) at Red Cross Bhavan, Bhubaneswar. On this occasion, at 8.30 A.M an Awareness Rally (i.e from Red Cross Bhavan, Keshari Talkies, Reserve Bank Lane, Ram Mandir, Central School Square to Red Cross Bhavan, Bhubaneswar, was organized to create awareness on humanity & volunteerism among public. More than 500 Red Cross Volunteers, Life Members including Youth & Junior Red Cross Volunteers from different schools and colleges of Bhubaneswar and different districts of Odisha have joined to celebrate this day.

The meeting was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Sj. Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak, Hon’ble Minister Health & F.W, I & PR., Government of Odisha and Chairman Working Committee, IRCS-OSB.

Dr. Debashis Patra, YRC counselor, Rajdhani College joined as the Chief Speaker on this occasion. In his speech he expressed that the volunteers for making & keeping the Red Cross symbol always for the volunteerism for the vulnerable of the society.

Dr. Chakradhar Panda, Honorary Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Odisha State Branch welcome the Guests and Volunteers and said that we all join here for recognizing the commitment of all volunteers, and said,  we not only celebrate and recognize volunteerism in all its facets – but pay special tribute to the contribution of youth volunteers in global peace and sustainable human development.

The programme was coordinated by Major, Dr. Kalpana Das, YRCO, IRCS-OSB & vote of thanks by Sri Govinda Chandra Mahunta, Honorary Joint Secretary, IRCS-OSB.

A signature campaign on voluntarism was conducted on the spot and cultural programme performed by the volunteers of Youth and Junior Red Cross volunteers of different Colleges & Schools of Bhubaneswar on this occasion.
