Odisha Delegates attend National Conference of AIFUCTO in GujaratBhubaneswar, Dec 28: The largest college and University Teacher’s organization of the country, All India Federation of University and College Teacher’s Organizations (AIFUCTO) with a 7 lac membership held its biannual conference in the temple town Ambaji in Gujarat, from 18th to 20th 0f December.
More than 2000 delegates from all over the country participated and took part in the deliberations on the theme, ‘The New Higher Education Policy-challenges and prospects’. It unanimously resolved to oppose the privatization of higher education and demanded that the central govt. must work to strengthen the public funded higher education system in the country instead of diluting it.
The conference elected its new body with Manas Behera from Odisha as the new vice-president. The teachers from different parts of the country resolved to fight for the immediate constitution of 7th pay commission for UGC scales of pay,UGC Scales of pay to all kinds of college teachers, permanent recruitment instead of contractual appointment, scraping of CBCS system, API Score, 2009 PhD Regulations, clearance of arrears of 6th pay commission, discussion with the association.
More than 70 delegates from Odisha attended the conference. Prof. Amiya Mohanty, Manas Behera, Rabi Ray, Umakanta Patra, Dusmant Nayak, Surendra Jena and many others participated in the national seminar. Manas Behera, the ex-general secretary of OGCTA got elected unopposed as the national vice-president of AIFUCTO. Dr. Amiya Mohanty , Dr Sanjay Hati, vice-president of OGCTA congratulated Sri Behera on becoming the new office bearer of AIFUCTO.
