Odisha: Indian Red Cross Society celebrates National Youth Day-2016

Red CrossBhubaneswar, Jan 13: Indian Red Cross Society, Odisha State Branch celebrated National Youth Day to commemorate the birthday of Swami Vivekananda, maker of the modern India.

The main objective of the National Youth Day is to distribute the ideas and ideals of the Swami Vivekananda among the youths of India and to make better future of the country by motivating the youths through the way of life and ideas of the Swami Vivekananda.

More than 500 Youth Red Cross Volunteers, Counsellors from 22 different colleges of Bhubaneswar and life members of Red Cross have joined to celebrate this day.

Shri Debi Prasad Mishra, Hon’ble Minister, Industries, School & Mass Education, Odisha and Chairman, Working Committee, Junior Red Cross inaugurated the state level function as the Chief Guest and said that Vivekanand is known as the man behind starting the culture of modern India.

He is one of the great Indian citizen who praised Indian culture out of Indian and made world to belief that Indian culture has a great history and it will always be better than western culture. By expressing the status of blood donation he said that we have a shortfall of blood in Odisha. Through enhanced voluntarism we can easily make up the deficit.

Shri Priyadarshi Mishra, Hon’ble MLA. Bhubaneswar North joined as Guest of Honour and inspires all the youths towards the philosophy of Swami Vivekananda and his ideals and said to develop the quality of Spiritualism among the Youth .

Dr. Chakradhar Panda, Honorary Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Odisha State Branch welcome the Guests and Volunteers and said that Youths are the most important part of the country who leads the country ahead, that’s why youths are selected to be inspired first by the ideas and ideals of the Swami Vivekananda.

A signature campaign was conducted on the spot and cultural programme performed by the volunteers of Youth Red Cross of different Colleges on this occasion.

At 11 A.M a Human Chain was organized in front of Red Cross Bhavan, Bhubaneswar to raise awareness about the importance of youth civic engagement and its benefits to the individual and to society.

Besides, a Debate & Essay Competition on National Youth Day was organized and prizes were distributed to the YRC volunteers of different Colleges 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively. Participation certificates were also distributed to the YRC Volunteers by the Honorary Secretary, IRCS-OSB.

The programme was coordinated by Maj. (Dr.) Kalpana Das, YRCO and said to the volunteers to try and pay tribute to this great soul in true sense and make a meaningful National Youth Day. Vote of thanks offered by Sri Govinda Chandra Mahunta, Honorary Joint Secretary, IRCS-OSB and assisted by Sri Lingaraj Panda, Sr. Asst., IRCS-OSB.
