Tata Steel Capability Development Training Centre at Kalinganagar

Tata SteelKalinganagar, August 25, 2015: To fulfill the training needs of Kalinganagar Project employees and help them hone their job skills, Tata Steel has set up a Capability Development Training Centre at Kalinganagar. It aims to equip employees to shoulder the responsibilities and challenges ahead in the project operations.

Mr T V Narendran, Managing Director, Tata Steel, India & South East Asia inaugurated the Training Centre on August 24, 2015.

Mr Suresh Dutt Tripathi, Vice President, HRM, Mr Rajesh Ranjan Jha, Vice President, Engg.,Kalinganagar Project, Mr Rajiv Kumar, Vice President, Operations, Kalinganagar Project & Dr. ShioKumar Singh, Chief Capability Development, Tata Steel and senior officers of Tata Steel Kalinganagarproject graced the occasion.

Expressing his thoughts on the new development, Mr Narendran urged the senior officers to train the junior employees in building up organizational capability and also encourage them to devote quality time in the Training Centre. He wished that newly inaugurated training centre would use new media to create a new benchmark for Tata Steel.

The Capability Development Vision of Tata Steel is to create a learning environment which is both efficient and effective, harness knowledge and enable sharing, develop present and future leaders who contribute to Tata Steel’s Vision of becoming a global steel benchmark.

The Capability Development Training Centre has been constructed with an approximate expenditure of Rs 2.85 crores. The facilities in the centre include a Mechanical Engineering Workshop, Electrical Engineering Workshop, Computer Lab, Conference room, Library room, 6 Classrooms, Dining Hall, Administrative & Faculty office along with other basic amenities.

The training centre is equipped to provide mechanical, electrical & electronics, computer and behavioral trainings and would offer tailor-made, equipment-specific, demand-driven training courses with focused training delivery at plant sites. So far, 1,850 people including displaced persons, ITI holders and DETs have been imparted training. During the current year, 23,126 man-days training have been provided covering 283 programmes for officers, supervisors and workers.

Dr. Shio Kumar Singh, Chief Capability Development explained the objectives of capability development department and facilities provided at the new centre.
