Odisha Govt to organise Special Camps for 100% Aadhaar Enrolment

Naveen PatnaikThe Odisha government has asked all district collectors to organise special camps in Panchayats and urban local bodies to ensure 100% Aadhaar enrolment by end of December, 2016.

The State government claims that the Aadhaar linkage process has been done only in 35% cases out of 90% Aadhaar enrolment by end of last month.

According to Government reports, Aadhaar enrolment of 3.45 crore people has already been completed in the State with the highest number 28 lakh in Ganjam district followed by 23 lakh enrolment in Cuttack district. Deogarh stands at the bottom with three lakh people having the cards.

Notably, the Naveen Patnaik Government last month had announced to make use of Aadhaar mandatory during procurement of paddy with an aim to ensure that farmers get the minimum support price. It is also planning to link Aadhaar to the ration cards under the NSFA Act and MGNREGS.
