Farmers’ Protest: Opposition Parties To Boycott President’s Address, BJD To Attend

As the Budget session of the Parliament begins today, several opposition parties have decided to boycott the President’s address to show support to the farmers’ protest.

BJD, however, has clarified that it will attend the address. BJD MP Sasmit Patra informed the party’s decision and said that the BJD will raise issues relating to Odisha.

A total of 16 opposition parties have decided not to attend the President’s address today.

Meanwhile, the farmers’ protest turned stronger after scores of farmers rushed to Ghazipur protest site. The farmers’ were reportedly moved by their leader Rajesh Tikait’s tears who alleged conspiracy by the administration.

Though heavy police were deployed last night at the site suggesting eviction, the security personnel left the spot as the number of farmers started swelling.

The UP Government has given the farmers time till today evening to vacate the spot.
