3 Punjabi Writers join “Elite Club”, return Sahitya Akademi Awards

Punjabi Writers Gurbachan Bhullar, Ajmer Singh Aulakh and Atamjit Singh have returned the Sahitya Akademi Awards. They joined the “elite club” of Uday Prakash, Nayantara Sahgal, Ashok Vajpeyi, Sara Joseph and Rahman Abbas, who have already returned their awards. Another Canada-based Punjabi writer Waryam Sandhu too returned his award.

They protested against the killing of Sahitya Akademi member Kalburgi and Dadri lynching and said PM Modi’s silence has triggered the communal passion and increased intolerance across the country.
