Gujarat Burning, as Hardik Patel’s Supporters on Rampage

GujaratDemanding reservation for Patel Patidar community within OBC quota, Hardik Patel’s supporters have resorted to violence and arson. Sola and Nikol police ‘chowki’ set on fire in Ahmedabad.

A police van set on fire in Surat. Several buses and other vehicles torched. Hardik Patel was arrested and later released after 90 minutes, when the situation went beyond control.

Many other parts of Gujarat are burning. Violence and arson reported from Ranip, Chandkheda, Junagadh, Rajkot, Mehsana etc. Curfew has been imposed in Mehsana after Gujarat Home Minister Rajni Patel’s house was set on fire. Section 144 has been imposed in Surat.

Gujarat CM Anandiben Ptel has appealed for peace and calm and also ordered a probe into the violence. Meanwhile, Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti’s Surat Convener Vishal Patel withdraws support to Hardik Patel, protesting against violence in Bapu and Patel’s land.
