SC stays Rajasthan HC’s Order banning Jains’ Santhara Ritual

The Supreme Court has stayed the Rajasthan HC decision, which banned the Jain community’s fast on to death ritual – ‘Santhara or Sallekhana’. The verdict was given on the plea of a Jain body Jain Shravak Sangh, which claimed that the Rajasthan HC passed the verdict without appreciating the basic philosophy and tenets of the Jain religion.
