Swachh Bharat Mission Chief Vijaylakshmi Joshi takes VRS

In a major jolt to Prime Minister’s Narendra Modi’s dream project – Swachh Bharat Mission, Gujarat cadre IAS officer Vijaylakshmi Joshi, who was the Chief of the initiative, quit from the service three years ahead of her actual retirement. She cited personal reasons while resigning.

Ms Joshi was the Secretary of the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation. Union Minister Ch. Birendra Singh forwarded her resignation letter to the PMO, which was immediately accepted. She is likely to serve till October-end.
