Tony Abbott ousted as Australian PM after losing to Malcolm Turnbull

Tony Abbott, who served as the Australian Prime Minister for two years, lost to Malcolm Turnbull in Australian Liberal leadership contest, just four days ahead of his second anniversary in the office.

Malcolm Turnbull will become Australia’s 29th Prime Minister. He defeated Abbott 54-44 in the leadership contest. Julie Bishop was re-elected as Deputy Liberal Leader, defeating Kevin Andrews 70-30.
