Cauvery Verdict: Tamil Nadu’s Share of Water reduced; Karnataka gets more

ONI Bureau: The Supreme Court pronounced its verdict on the Cauvery water dispute between south Indian states of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala today.

Delivering its verdict the Apex Court allocated an additional 14.7 TMC of Cauvery river water to Karnataka keeping in view in increased demand of drinking water by Bengaluru and also for many industrial activities.

However, the Apex Court also directed Karnataka to release 177TMC of water to Tamil Nadu. With this Tamil Nadu will get 404 tmc ft water, lower than Tribunal’s 419 tmc ft award. With this Karnataka will now get 284.7 TMC of Cauvery.
