Modi Govt gets 1st major jolt, as TDP pulls out

ONI Bureau:  Despite having a 20-minute phone call, PM Narendra Modi failed to convince N Chandrababu Naidu who decided to pull out of the Union Cabinet alleging step motherly treatment to Andhra Pradesh by the Centre. It’s the first major jolt to Modi Government, which recently got the support of Nitish Kumar in Bihar.

Both Ministers Ashok Gajapathi Raju and Y S Chowdhary resigned from the Modi Cabinet after meeting the PM this evening.

However, Naidu kept the options open by not pulling out of the NDA as an ally. He will continue to put pressure on the Govt, demanding special status for Andhra Pradesh while being an alliance partner.

While submitting their resignation, the Ministers said that sentiments of Andhra people have been hit, as the Centre failed to fulfill their demand. “We waited for long. But, when things were taken care of, we had no option but to quit,” they added.
