5 Eklavya Model Residential Schools for Odisha: Oram

Jual OramUnion Minister for Tribal Affairs Jual Oram has announced that, as many as five Eklavya Model Residential Schools ( EMRS) would soon be established in different part of Odisha by his Ministry while the required land would be allocated by the state government.

The Central government has sanctioned Rs 50 crore for establishing EMRS in various part of the state, the Minister said.

The tribal students from class Vth to +2 level will receive free education in these schools. As of now, Odisha has 13 EMRS spreading over nine backward districts including Koraput, Nabarangapur, Rayagada, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Sundargarh, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, and Jajpur.

Eklavya Model Residential Schools are being established by the Tribal Ministry, Government of India across the country on the format of Navodaya Vidyalaya with an objective to provide quality middle and high level education to Scheduled Tribe (ST) students in remote areas of the country.
