All-Party Meeting held on Mahanadi Row; BJD remains Absent

The ruling BJD stayed away from today’s all-party meeting convened by Leader of Opposition Narasingh Mishra over Mahanadi row. However, leaders of almost all political parties, prominent social activists, renowned  intellectuals and members of various social organisations of the state have attended the meeting.

BJP leaders KV Singhdeo, Bijoy Mohapatra, Bhrugu Baxipatra, Sajjan Sharma, Samir Mohanty, Pradeep Purohit, Congress leaders Narasingha Mishra, Dr. Prafulla Majhi, Chiranjib Biswal , Ama Odisha Party leader Soumya Ranjan Patnaik, Social Activist Prafulla Samantara, senior journalist Rabi Das, All India Trinamool Congress leader Arya Kumar Jnanendra and other political leaders participated in the the meeting.

In the meeting, it is decided to form a joint committee within a week that would give a memorandum to the Governor on Aug 10. In addition, it is agreed to demand the State Government to publish a white paper regarding the waters flowing through Mahanadi in the State. The Centre will also be asked to intervene in the matter and appraised of the proposals agreed upon.
