Baijayant mourns Kunduli Suicide; postpones Project Inauguration

ONI Bureau: As entire Odisha is mourning the shocking suicide of Kunduli ‘gangrape’ victim and demanding justice for her, BJD MP Baijayant Panda expressed solidarity with the cause and postponed the much-awaited inauguration of the biggest-ever MPLAD-funded project in Kendrapara district.

The Sanskruti Bhavan in Derabish, Kendrapara was scheduled for inauguration tomorrow despite the opposition of Jay Panda’s critics and rivals, thanks to massive public support he received from all quarters.

The project – a Multipurpose Auditorium, is built at a cost of Rs 396 lakh out of which Rs 376 lakh is sanctioned from his MPLAD funds.

“Considering the tragic suicide by the #KunduliGangrape victim & the current situation, with many protests & condolence meetings, it will be inappropriate to go ahead with this inauguration tomorrow. In her memory, this is respectfully postponed to another day, to be announced,” tweeted Baijayant Panda.
