Bhitarkanika National Park reopens for Public

ONI Bureau:  The Bhitarkanika National Park on Tuesday reopened for the tourists and nature lovers after it was closed for three months in view of the breeding season of estuarine crocodiles.

Spread over 145 sqkm, the Bhitarkanika National Park is famous for its saltwater crocodiles, migrating birds, a huge variety of mangrove species and the ever embracing nature. Bhitarkanika National Park receives about 50,000 tourists every year.

As per the annual census conducted in January 2016, the population of the saltwater crocodile in Bhitarkanika had increased to 1671.
