Bhitarkanika Natl Park will remain close from May 1 to July 31

Bhitarkanika Natl ParkBhitarkanika National Park in Kendrapara district, Odisha will remain close for visitors from May 1 to July 31 in view of the breeding season of salt water crocodiles.

A ban is imposed every year for the smooth breeding of crocodiles, for the protection of their eggs and to ensure safety of tourists. Human intervention will be negative impact on breeding crocodiles.

Recently from January 8 to 17 the park been closed for annual census. Forest officials told that, around 16,000 salt water crocodiles are living in the national park. The park is home to the both Saltwater Crocodile and White Crocodile.
