Bhubaneswar gears up for Ganesh Festival, Biswakarma Puja

Bhubaneswar, Sep 14: Artisans in the capital city and across Odisha have been busy in giving final touch to the idols – Lord Ganesh and Lord Biswakarma, as festive season are round the corner. Both Ganesh Puja and Biswakarma Puja are the most popular festivals of Odisha. This time, both festivals fall on the same day – September 17.

Odisha News Insight (ONI) explored to find out the enthusiasm among the people in Bhubaneswar ahead of the festival season. Odia people celebrated Ganesh puja with gaiety and Odisha is also known for its pandals and Idols.

 

At Unit-3, Bhubaneswar, people come to buy idols of Ganesh and Biswarkarma. Most of the students engaged in puja celebration can be seen buying idols and showing their love and respect towards Lord Ganesh – God of Wisdom and Success.

Manoj Kumar Sethi, P N College of Khurda, talked to ONI at Unit-3, “This place is famous and lots of people do come here to buy idols; we can get various designs of idols.”

Aishwarya Mallick , a student of Indus Engineering College, told ONI, “We collected 1500 rupees for the Idol from our companions. Here we find varieties of idols and will pick up a good one for our college.”

 

Subrat  Nayak from Laxmisagar, who came to buy idol of Lord Ganesh, said, “ I celebrate Ganesh Puja every year at home. Unit 3 is a place where I can get Lord Ganesh idols at cheap price. I am planning to buy an idol between price ranges of 200 to 250.”

Pratap Barad, idol seller told the ONI, “We have brought varieties of idols from Athagarh area – costing between Rs 80 to Rs 14000.”

Prakash Chandra Mishra told ONI, “Our Idols have been bought from Kakarudrapur, Anthuari, Athagarh, Kakhadi, Baranga and Phulapokhari. We have both idols – Lord Ganesh and Biswakarma, pricing between Rs 50 – Rs 8000.
