BJD Writes to Centre On Alleged Violation of COVID Norms By MP Aparajita Sarangi On Her Birthday

After the video of Bhubaneswar BJP MP Aparajita Sarangi celebrating her birthday with her supporters went viral, netizens slammed the legislator for violating COVID 19 guidelines. In the video, Aparajita Sarangi can be seen celebrating her birthday without wearing masks and following social distancing.

Biju Janata Dal has now sought Centre’s intervention into the matter. Odisha MoS (Home) Captain Dibya Shankar Mishra wrote to his Centre counterpart Nityanand Rai, requesting him to ‘advise’ the Bhubaneswar MP not to ‘endanger the lives of people.

“The video clearly shows Honourable MP surrounded by hundreds of women who are neither wearing masks (except one) nor maintaining social distance and indulging in song and dance with utter disregard to Covid guidelines issued under the National Disaster Management Act despite repeated appeals made by the Prime Minister regarding the same,” the letter read.

This is not the first time the legislator has been accused of violating COVID-19 norms. There are at least three instances of COVID-19 norms violation by the MP in the past.
