BJP, Congress Delegation meets SEC, seek intervention into Poll Disparity

Opposition BJP and Congress brought serious allegations against ruling BJD for snatching away Zilla Parishad (ZP) seats by manipulation.

A BJP delegation led by party Vice President Samir Mohanty and Congress team led by opposition Chief Whip Tara Prasad Bahinipati today met the State Election Commission’s (SEC), seeking intervention in disparity in evaluation of votes during the recent Panchayat Polls.

Earlier on Sunday, the BJP Odisha Unit general secretary Pruthviraj Harichandan said BJP will move Orissa High Court against BJD over counting tinkering and snatching away 34 ZP seats.

The BJP general secretary pointed out that BDOs and Collectors in several places acted as agents of the ruling party.

Bahinipati alleged ruling party of forgery in counting in Zilla Parishad seats. Senior Congressman Narasingha Mishra termed it as the victory of money and muscle power.
