ONI Bureau: A high-level delegation of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has met the Election Commission, seeking its intervention to ensure a free and fair polling in Bijepur that goes to bypoll on February 24.
The team included Union P&NG, SD&E Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, National Spokesperson Dr. Sambit Patra and BJP’s Odisha In-Charge Arun Singh.
“The BJP team accused Collector’s Office, SP Office and BDO offices in Bijepur constituency of openly batting for BJD by diverting untied funds worth Rs 1,500 crore benefit the party. While these government offices have become BJD’s party office, CM’s PA VK Pandian is directly monitoring the situation,” alleged Dr. Sambit Patra.
“In the wake of this unprecedented development in Bijepur, we sought the EC’s intervention to step in and ensure voters are not influenced by the use of money and muscle power,” he said.
Later, Dharmendra Pradhan tweeted saying they have submitted a petition to the EC. The BJP team also demanded deployment of central para-military forces in Bijepur, saying the local police is working at the behest of the state government.
