Centre won’t intervene in Polavaram conflict: Uma Bharti

Union Minister for Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, Ms Uma Bharti has sought to put an end to the Polavaram issue, saying the centre won’t intervene on this matter.

“Polavaram Project is an issue between Odisha and Andhra Pradesh. It’s up to both the states to resolve the conflict amicably. I don’t see any role of the centre in this,” she said.

Ms. Bharti made this statement while addressing a press meet in Sambalpur during her Odisha visit. She also visited the Hirakud Dam this morning. Uma Bharti will meet Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik in Bhubaneswar later today and raise the pollution of river Mahanadi at the meeting. She will submit the Godavari-Mahanadi linking proposal to the Odisha Government.
