Commissionerate Police submits probe report to OHRC on Rishi death case

ONI Bureau:  The Commissionerate Police on Thursday submitted a report on the investigation into the death of Rishi to the Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC).

As per the report, Ashutosh Mohanty alias Rishi died due to intake of excess alcohol and drug overdose.

Earlier last year, OHRC sought report from the Commissionerate of Police on the investigation into the death of engineering student Rishi who died in May 2016.

The incident came to light after an objectionable video surfaced on social media with allegations of Mayor AN Jena featuring in it.

Worth mentioning the drug peddler, Sheikh Mumtaz, who allegedly supplied drugs to Rishi was taken into custody and then let off without any further investigation.

In this regard, OHRC Chairperson Justice BK Mishra said to newsmen that the matter is still sub-judice, no one given clean chit.
