Expert team finds ‘cracks’ in Nata Mandap of Puri Srimandir

ONI Bureau:  The joint team of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) which concluded the three-day inspection of the Nata Mandap (audience hall) of the 12th-century shrine-Sri Mandir in Odisha’s Puri on Wednesday, said it have found some cracks in the column capital of Nata Mandap.

Experts of the core Committee of ASI, IIT Kharagpur and IIT Chennai said cracks were detected in two out of the total four central column capitals and the team is trying to found alternative methods for the repairs of the damaged column capital. Water leakage from the ceiling was also detected in the Nata Mandap.

During the team’s three-day inspection, they also reviewed the condition of Jagamohan and Bhoga Mandap reportedly.
