Farmers detained at various places ahead of Chasi Samavesh in Bhubaneswar

Ahead of a mega Chasi Samavesh (farmers’ convention) in the State Capital today, police have detained hundreds of farmers and members of Navnirman Krushak Sanghathan at various places across Odisha.

The State Government also clapped prohibitory orders under section 144 of CrPC at the Hitech square to prevent farmers entering Bhubaneswar.

Besides this, number of farmers has taken into custody from Bhubaneswar railway station and in other districts that had come to the city for the rally.

Notably, over 1 lakh farmers across the State have planned to hold a mass rally in Bhubaneswar today against injustice to farmers in the State.

Maintaining law and order, over 50 platoons of police forces have been deployed in the State Assembly and Secretariat.
