Formalin Scare: Fish samples collected from Puri, Rayagada

ONI Bureau: With the traces of cancer-causing formalin were detected in the samples of fishes collected from Sambalpur district on Thursday, inspections were conducted at several markets and outlets in Puri and Rayagada districts on Friday.

The officials of the public health department, fisheries and marine fisheries conducted raids and collected fish samples from the markets and sent for examination to the food testing laboratory in Bhubaneswar.

The team conducted simultaneous raids in various fish markets and sensitised the vendors as well as the public about the ill effects of consuming formalin-laced fishes.
