Gurupriya Bridge constructed to loot Mineral Resources: Maoist’s letter to Media

ONI Bureau:  The CPI (Maoist)’s Malkangiri-Koraput-Visakhapatnam Border division sent letter to various media organisations alleging that the ‘Gurupriya Bridge’in Malkangiri has been constructed with an aim to loot the forest products and mineral resources on which only the tribal have the sole right.

The letter also stated that water level in Balimela reservoir has risen due to construction of the bridge as a result agricultural land of as many as seven panchayats have been submerged and thousands of farmers have lost their crops.

Worth mentioning, over 30,000 people of around 151 villages now connected with the mainland due to the construction of 910 metres long Gurupriya Bridge.
