Heavy Rain till August 15 in Odisha; Red Alert issued to 9 Dist Collectors

ONI Bureau:  The India Meteorological Department (IMD) have issued heavy to very heavy rain alert for coastal Odisha and some other parts off the State from today (August 13) till August 15.

Rough to very rough Sea conditions are likely to prevail over westcentral Arabian Sea, Maharashtra, Gujarat,West Bengal, Odisha coasts, Central Bay of Bengal and over & around Andaman & Nicobar Islands, as per the IMD prediction.

Accordingly, Red alert for heavy rain issued to District Collectors of 9 districts including Ganjam, Puri, Nayagarh, Khordha, Kandhamal, Sambalpur, Boudh, Jagatsinghpur and Cuttack, informed SRC Deputy Pravat Ranjan Mohapatra.

Similarly, thunderstorm & rain alert for Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Nuapada, Bargarh, Bolangir, Sonepur, Boudh, Sambalpur, Koraput, Ganjam districts issued till 4.30 PM today.

Fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea till August 15.
