IIT, Madras Team visits Puri Sea Beach to fix Coast erosion

A technical team from IIT, Madras on Friday visited the spot to check the erosion at the Puri sea beach and examine the impact of high tide on the beach. The team will try to reduce the ingress of sea water so that it does not enter into the town.

Meanwhile, the Department of Geology of the Utkal University on Thursday visited the spot for an on-the-spot review of the situation.

After getting suggestions from expert team from IIT, Madras, the Secretary of Water Resources Department, Pradip Jena said no structures will be constructed on the beach and natural process will be followed to check the erosion.

Notably, the surging sea waves have lashed the beach, threatening to wash away the road near Swargadwar.
