Itishree Murder Case: SC stays Proceedings against Prakash Mishra

Prakash-MishraNew Delhi, Aug 4: In a significant development in Itishree Pradhan murder case, the Supreme Court granted a stay on action against Prakash Mishra, former Odisha Director General of Police (DGP).

Currently the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has been investigating into the Itishree Pradhan murder case. CBI submitted report over the murder case and appealed the court to avail extra six-month time to complete its investigation. However, the court directed the investigating agency to complete its investigation within three months and arrest culprits involved in the murder case.

Prakash Mishra had moved the apex court over the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) vacating its stay granted against the show cause notice to him on July 29 in the case. Counsel of Mishra, Biswajit Singh moved the Supreme Court appealing direction to CAT  over stay order against notice issued by an investigating committee. He alleged in his petition that the Odisha government had conspired to embarrass his client Mishra.

It is noteworthy that, Itishree Pradah, a teacher at Tikri primary school in Rayagada district, had spoken and told her problems to Prakash Mishra, by then he was Odisha DGP, on July 31, 2013. Rajesh Verma Committee probing the murder case issued notice to DGP Mishra and asking to provide details about within 15 days. Mishra moved to CAT and secured a stay on the notice issued by the probing committee.
