Japanese Encephalitis Death Toll rises to 72 in Malkangiri

The death toll due to the outbreak of Japanese Encephalitis (JE) disease has reached to 72 in last 50 days in Malkangiri district of Odisha.

On Thursday, the Health Minister Pradeep Amat and Secretary Arti Ahuja accompanied by district Collector and the CDMO visited the affected areas in the district.

Meantime, the virus has now found in Koraput district as well. While 28 blood samples of pigs from six blocks were sent for examination, eight were tested positive.

In this connection, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will visit Malkangiri on November 10 to take the stock of the situation.
