Locals demand compensation after youth drowns in pond in bid to extinguish fire

ONI Bureau:  Locals at Arala village in Puri district on Saturday staged demonstration with the deceased’s body demanding compensation for the family of a youth, who died after drowning in a pond.

As per report, house of one person in the village was set on fire last night by some unidentified miscreants. In an attempt to douse the flames along with other villagers, Naba Pradhan went to the pond where he slipped into the water and drowned.

However, the police assured the irate villagers of needful compensation. Reportedly, the body has been sent for post-mortem.
