Manipuri Youth’s Death: Manipur Police Team to arrive in Bhubaneswar

Manipuri Youth's caseBhubaneswar, Dec 10: A special team of police from Manipur to arrive here today to investigate into alleged murder of Manipuri youth who was found hanging from a tree in the residence of an Odisha Administrative Service (OAS) officer here on December 2.

As per reports, the police team and family members of the deceased youth are likely to visit the capital city and start investigation with Odisha police.

Police said preliminary reports revealed L. Poumai was from Manipur and his brother has identified him from a photo sent via Whatsapp.

“Though prima-facie it looks like a case of suicide, we are waiting for the post-mortem report to ascertain the exact cause of death. We are investigating the matter,” Deputy Commissioner of Police Satyabrata Bhoi said.

Sources said the 23-year-old student was a native of Khabung Karong village in Senapati district.

According to his family, Poumai made a distress call to them at 4:55 p.m. on Sunday (November 29) complaining that around five people were threatening to kill him.

However, police sources said Poumai, with injuries on his body was rescued by some local from Balugaon railway station in Khurdha district on November 30 and admitted to Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar.
