Mid Day Meal Scheme: Odisha Govt spends 2969 Cr in 4 Years

Mid Day Meal SchemeBhubaneswar, Aug 27: Odisha government has spent Rs.2969 crore in last four years under Mid Day Meal Scheme with contribution of more than Rs.2200 crore from the Central government.  This information was given by the School and Mass Education Minister Debi Prasad Mishra in a written reply to a question asked by BJP MLA Dilip Ray in Odisha Assembly on Thursday.

The Minister informed that mid day meal scheme was being implemented at 62, 642 schools in Odisha covering around 55, 41,283 students. He said that the state government has spent 2969 crore 48 lakh 34 thousand rupees during 2011-12 to 2014-15 under the scheme. Out of the total expenditure incurred during the period, the central government contributed 2209 crore 13 lakh 94 thousand rupees and Odisha government contributed 760 crore 34 lakh 40 thousand rupees.
