Naveen Patnaik announced a 100-crore package for low-income families in Odisha

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik published a Rs 100-crore package to render livelihood support to around 4.5 lakh urban low-income families harmed by the lockdown inflicted across the country due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The Chief Minister’s Office stated, “The Urban Wage Employment Initiative will aid and support the livelihood of the low-income families dwelling in 114 urban local body regions of the state,”

Urban Wage Employment Initiative, executed in association with the Mission Shakti Department, will last till September to generate livelihood opportunities for labourers and daily wagers.

The CMO explained that the wages of every beneficiary would be credited directly to his/her bank account every week. Further, the programme will be executed by strictly adhering to the social distancing standards. The guidelines concerning the lockdown will have to be rigorously obeyed while carrying out the operation.
