Odisha Cabinet approves 5 proposals

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday approved the proposals of five departments in the State Cabinet meeting.

Odisha cabinet have approved the proposal for the amendment to Odisha Gram Panchayat Act, Odisha Panchayat Samiti Act and Odisha Zilla Parishad Act. Cabinet announced to establish more than 500 Panchayats in Odisha. The government have promised to establish one panchayat for every 1,000 population.

Reservations for panchayat will be decided in one term as compared to two terms earlier.

Health and Family Welfare department’s proposal for setting up of Health Sciences University is also approved.  All medical colleges of the State will function under the new health univerrsity.

A proposal from the Housing and Urban Development department on amendment to the Bihar Odisha Places of Pilgrimage Act was approved at the cabinet meeting. As per the decision, the Puri Collector will henceforth look after the lodging of ‘Habisyalis’ visiting Puri instead of the RDC, the sources said.

Proposal from the Cooperative department for Cash Credit of of Rs 15 crore loan to the Aska sugar factory was also approved.

Proposals from the General Administration department on appointment of a new OPSC chairman and recruitment of Group-B government jobs alos got cabinet approval.
